Raina's first dentist visit

Raina had her first dental check up today! She prepared by reading a book from the library and looking at pictures of the dentist and his office on their webpage (http://www.dakotakidsdentistry.com//).

She loved playing with all the toys:

First, the nurse brushed Raina's teeth with a fluoride wash.  I had to hold her down and she screamed :-(  She recovered quickly though.

Then the doctor came in and checked her teeth. I had to hold her down again.  She wasn't too traumatized though, because she did answer the doctor and nurse's questions.

All done!  She got a small puppy toy, a bag of toothpaste, fluoride rinse, and floss, stickers, and a new fish toothbrush!  She was very excited to get all her prizes.  We celebrated her accomplishment by going out to lunch so she could have mac & cheese, her all time favorite.

Showing off her teeth for Daddy:

Her name was on the welcome board (in orange, on right, halfway down).

The dentist says she has very good teeth!  No cavities or soft spots, and good spacing.  No need to floss (thankfully) since her teeth still have spaces between them.  He said it's good the binky is going bye-bye (tomorrow!) because it is changing her bite a little, but it should correct itself since she is so young.  Her frenulum (the flesh between the front teeth) is a little lower than usual, but should correct itself.  If it doesn't by the time she has all her permanent teeth they can fix it easily.  He said if she falls and hits it it might bleed a lot though!  Overall, he said she has very nice teeth, and no signs of decay at all.  Good job, Raina!
