Raina is beginning to recognize colors. In the past 2 days she has pointed out black 4 times, which is interesting because usually if you ask her what color something is, she answers "blue", sometimes without even looking. The black she pointed out to me on her own. The first time was on her garlic toast, whoops. Guess I baked it too long! Today she pointed to the black on a statue of a cow at the zoo.
This afternoon, distracted from my homework, I gazed out the window and noticed Raina had arranged the gelly window clings by color!
We have a good book about shapes, and we just started reading that a lot. She is really into it, because in the book there are not just circles and squares, but truck shapes and people shapes too. Of the "normal" shapes, Raina recognizes a circle (although sometimes she calls it a ball) but that's all so far. The other day she put a cherry tomato and a rubber ball next to each other and said "same"!
