Degus at art class
Raina has her first art class after Christmas break today. it was actually her first activity since the break, and she was very, very shy. Usually she sits on her own carpet square next to me, but today she had to sit on my lap. I couldn't even set her down for a second or she cried. It's hard to get back into the swing of things! Today was a zoo day, so an animal from the zoo came to visit. It was a pair of degus, who are related to chinchillas.
For the project, Raina made a degu habitat with lots of paint and paper for dirt and grass and a little pom-pom with a string for the degu.

You may have noticed she's been favoring her left hand. We noticed too. I read up on it, and it says it's not for certain until they hit about 2-3 years. Some kids change back and forth a few times. I guess we'll have to wait and see! Here's the finished habitat. Notice the googly-eyed degu on the right.
