We started our
Independence Day a day early with a BBQ at our friends' house on Friday (see kitty video below!). Their boys set off some bottle rockets. On Saturday morning we did the fundraiser walk/run at the zoo. We walked 2 miles in about 37 minutes. Raina loved it, she waved at the runners as they past us and even clapped! It started pouring just as we finished so we headed home fast. After lunch, we walked to a big picnic at Oak Park. Raina went down a big inflatable slide, ate a snow cone, and tried some cotton candy! At night we went to base to watch the fireworks. She wasn't afraid at all, and sat nicely on my lap snuggled up under a blanket. She liked the fountain-like ones that are close to the ground, probably because they are so bright. It doesn't get dark here until really late so the fireworks didn't start until 10:45 pm, and we got home at almost midnight. Raina was asleep before we even got off base! She got the whole 4th of July experience. Raina says 4th of July is great fun, but exhausting!!

Raina likes to try to pull herself up. She can't quite get to standing on her own, but she gets to her knees pretty well.

this kid is going to have one hell of a sweet tooth
I swear, she usually eats healthy! I need to stop posting the junk food pics and post the broccoli, squash, and cauliflower ones from now on. :-) I am actually growing 4 different kinds of squash for her in the garden!
